A Nemesis Reborn is a four-part, episodic, interactive comic, available for mobile platforms, letting you experience a fresh story within the Doctor Who universe. Navigate your way through a compelling tale featuring many of your favourite characters whilst solving puzzles and completing minigames.
Part comic, part game, all fun.
As developers we were split into 4 teams of 5-6, each working on a single episode. The breakdown was typically 3 artists, 1 marketer and 1-2 programmers per episode. I was the lead programmer and technical director for the team working on episode 3. We had a very short time frame to create the product, so the first thing we had to do was discuss with the other teams to form a script, decide upon an art style that would be consistent through each episode and come up with minigames to fit each episode’s narrative.
We had to work hard and fast in a studio environment, there were a lot of crunch periods as client reviews came around but we made successive turnarounds on our Alpha, Beta and final release stages within our deadline. The project was my first time working within a proper team and it was certainly difficult, particularly as we had to self-manage and delegate tasks within our short timeline. It was a great learning experience to show the struggles of working within a multi-disciplinary team and striving for real deadlines.
